Professional Board Development

A thorough understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a person who is a Board Member of a non government organisation that provide disability services is vital in ensuring strong governance of the organisation. This includes a understanding of the role of the Director and the Board including risk management , strategy and finance. A number of professional development opportunities are listed below.

Foundations of Directorship Course

In partnership with the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), the Industry Development Fund rolled out the Foundations of Directorship Course across NSW to eligible non government organisations that provide disability services funded by ADHC.  Over 380 board members from 220 non government organisations attended the course, which focuses on financial management, risk and strategy.  

At present, there are no further courses planned. A final evaluation of the report is available here.

Professional Board Member External Training

Professional Board Member Development is available through a number of organisations that specialise in this area.
